Ruth (Dillman) Steele

Ruth (Dillman) Steele, age 94, lifelong resident of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of close family on October 6th, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Steele, sister to Dick (Peggy) Dillman, mother to Melanie (Mike), grandmother to Chad (Nikki) and great-grandmother to Autumn.  Many may remember Ruth from when she and Bob owned and operated the Tastee Freeze on Rt 36 outside Brookville for many years.  She had a sweet tooth and was quite famous for her own tasty treats and candies.  Ruth enjoyed time with family and friends and often hosted gatherings at their cabin in Cook Forest.  She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and was the glue that connected so many of her friends, family, and community.  In lieu of funeral services and to honor Ruth, we ask that you consider a donation to Heritage House, 4 Sylvania St., Brookville, PA 15825. Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825.
