Robert Hause Obituary

Robert “Bob” Kier Hause, 96, of Concordia Cabot, PA formerly of Ames Circle, Sigel, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Bob was born on May 28, 1926, to the late Henry Samuel and Annie Hazel (Shuster) Hause in Lucesco, PA. On August 31, 1951, Bob married Virginia Young Williams in Freeport, PA; Virginia preceded him in passing. Bob attended Allegheny Township School at Weinels Crossroads. He spent his career working on the Pennsylvania Railroad after starting out building roads for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and then at the Alcoa Extrusion Mill in New Kensington. He could talk all day about everything from coal and wood fed steam engines to modern high-speed trains and all the train wrecks in every kind of weather that they were called out to service. He knew where every good diner and pie place in the western half of Pennsylvania was and where to get the very best cup of black coffee. Bob was a 70-year member of Armstrong Lodge #239 in Freeport, Pennsylvania. He served as Worshipful Master in 1955. He was an active member and never missed a Lodge meeting until a couple of months before his death, attending every regular and extra meeting. Bob joined the Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport June 1, 1951, serving on the Passion Play theatrical makeup team for many years. He earned a Meritorious Service Award on July 11, 1998, for his Scottish Rite service. He especially enjoyed attending the annual gun bash each October. On December 12, 1951, he became a member of the Syria Shrine. He was also a member of Three Rivers Hillbilly Clan #53. When not attending Masonic functions, Bob spent time golfing and attending functions as a member of the Heath Township Sportsmen’s Club. Bob faithfully fed the fish at the hatchery, which has supplied fish for several fishing derbies including the very popular Clear Creek derby for over six decades. The very best place to fish was Buzzard’s Swamp and Bob and his wife Virginia spent many hours in the swamp, taking their limit every trip. Nothing better than fish, hot dogs, and mountain pies on the fire at Bob’s camp retirement home near Clear Creek State Park. The family enjoyed many good times eating and trading stories sitting around the fire. Bob was dearly loved and will be missed, but we are celebrating a life well lived. Bob is survived by his daughter; Patricia Hause Geiger Burkell; one sister; Helen Stull; five grandchildren; David Erich Geiger, Rachel Burkell, Lillian Burkell, Jude Burkell, and Elizabeth Burkell. Bob is also survived by three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in passing by four brothers, two sisters, and stepson John Williams. A private family celebration of life will take place at the family’s convenience. Online condolences and other information may be found by visiting www.dargyfh.com
