Raymond "Ray" Rasavage Obituary

Raymond “Ray” R. Rasavage, 82, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, while a patient at Christ the King Manor. Ray was born on October 24, 1938, to the late Sargent John G. and Anne M. (Waskavich) Rasavage in DuBois, PA. He attended the Punxsutawney Area High School and graduated with the Class of 1956. On June 28, 1969, Ray married Frances “Fran” Marie Barletta, in Punxsutawney; she survives him. He was in the Army Reserves for nine years and was called up to active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1961; he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He was a hardworking man who worked many jobs before finding his calling at the US Postal Service. He retired in 2001 after 31 years of service. As a mail carrier, Ray was known for his pipe; everyone along his route knew he was coming when they smelled it. Ray belonged to the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, PA. He was a member of the Lithuanian Independent Club in DuBois along with the National Association of Letter Carriers. Ray was a strong willed man who loved to hunt and fish. He spent many days in Erie, PA fishing for salmon. He enjoyed watching his favorite show, American Pickers. In addition to his wife, Fran, Ray is survived by son; Robert Rasavage of Reynoldsville; brother; Frank (Paula) Rasavage of Phoenix, AZ; two sister in laws; Phyllis Rasavage of Mt. Vernon, WA; Mary Grace Simmons of Punxsutawney, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers; John and Thomas Rasavage; and brother in law; Walter Simmons. A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be begin at 11:00am on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 607 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. Full military honors will be rendered by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Final interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, DuBois, Clearfield Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Company, 411 Jackson St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851, or to the Reynoldsville Area Ambulance, 207 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
