Matthew John Szczygiel

Matthew “Matt” John Szczygiel, 39, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020, while at home.  Matt was born on March 23, 1981, in Monroeville, PA, to Robert John and Kathleen Ann (Kress) Szczygiel; they survive him. He attended and graduated from H. H. Dow High School in Midland, MI. Matt then went on to attend and graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in Human Biology.  After graduating he worked as a Job Recruiter in Raleigh, NC. Matt loved to fish and play soccer and basketball. He also enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need no matter what was going on in his life. Although he had his struggles, Matt loved and lived life to the fullest.  In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by one son; Aiden Rupert – Szczygiel; two brothers; Brian (Elaine) Szczygiel; and Michael (Alka) Szczygiel; and numerous aunts uncles and cousins.  Matt is preceded in passing by both of his maternal and paternal grandparents.  Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Salvation Army by visiting www.salvationarmy.usa.
