Laura Jean Strouse

Laura “Jean” (Ishman) Strouse, 90, of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Monday, November 22, 2021.  Jean was born on June 1, 1931 to the late Harlan A. and Mabel (Smith) Ishman in Emerickville, PA.  She married Theodore (Ted) Charles Strouse on October 14, 1948, who preceded her in passing on July 10, 1994.   Jean was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker and also worked occasionally as a seamstress.  Upon relocating to Florida, Jean and Ted started their own lawn maintenance business.  Jean’s sense of humor and contagious laugh remained intact throughout her life.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and loving on all babies, anytime...anywhere.  Jean loved Jesus with all her heart and modeled His message of unconditional love and sincere service to God, family and community.  She left a legacy of love with everyone she knew and all who knew her.  Jean is survived by four daughters; Sharon Lewis of Matamoras, PA; Mary (John) Chicko of Monticello, NY; Kim (John) Davis of Leesburg, FL; Lori (Ray) Reisman of Leesburg, FL; four sons; Charles Strouse of Leesburg, FL; Mark (Wendy) Strouse of Milford, PA; Theodore Jay (Christine) Strouse of Fruitland Park, FL; and Glenn Strouse of Leesburg, FL;  twenty-four grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, Jean is preceded in death by; twin sister (died at birth); infant son Gary Dean Strouse; infant grandson Christopher Thomas Strouse; son-in-law Gene Lewis; seven sisters; Della Smith; Stella (Milliron) Grove; Effie Hetrick; Emma Reitz; Hilda Daugherty; Dorothy Bish; and Iva “Grace” Bodenhorn; five brothers; Edward Ishman, Clint Ishman; A.I. Ishman; Bud Ishman; James Ishman.

Family and friends will be received May 28, 2022 at Snyder-d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 East Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA.  Visitation will be from 2pm-3pm with a memorial service from 3pm- 4pm.  Interment will take place at Prospect Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Laura Jean Strouse’s name to Alzheimer’s Association by clicking on the donate button at www.alz.org.
