John "Jack" F. Johnston

John “Jack” Francis Johnston, 89, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, while a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville. He was born on June 10, 1932, to the late John Sr., and Geneva (Funk) Johnston in Braddock, PA. Jack graduated from Beaver High School. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He then went on to attend Geneva College for four years where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. Jack married Joyce A. Krompltz on January 31, 1981, in New Kensington, PA; Joyce survives him. He worked for many different plants including Talon Zipper Co. in Meadville, PA, J and L Steel in New Kensington, Wean United in Vandergrift, PA, and Beverage Air in Brookville. Jack had a strong faith and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville. Jack was an active man and was a part of two different bowling leagues and participated in golfing. Jack also enjoyed indoor activities and particularly loved playing cards and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jack will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by three children; Jocelyn (Ryan) Johnston of Leechburg, PA; Denise (Gary) Potter of Erie, PA; Chantal (Matthew) Krause of Girard, PA; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in passing by one sister, Lois J. Fogg. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 160 Franklin Ave., Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 10:30am.
