Glenn Robert Walker

Glenn Robert Walker, 89, of Sykesville, PA, passed away during the early evening hours of Wednesday, April 21, 2021, while at his home. He was born on July 21, 1931, to the late Frederick Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Fox) Walker in Sykesville, PA. Glenn married Virginia Mae Bishop on April 4, 1953, in Punxsutawney, PA; Virginia preceded him in passing. He started his working life with his father in the family business, Walker Brothers Construction. He then moved to South Dakota where he used his great faith and love for the Lord by serving as a missionary. He also used his practical skills in construction to work as a mason during this time. Later in life he continued family work with his son, Bob, as the Walker Building Contractors. Glenn was a devout member of Soldier Community Church and a man of immense faith and spirituality. He loved his church and dedicated a lot of his time to his faith and the church. Glenn was happiest when surrounded by his large family. He also loved his little dog, Tiny. Glenn was a humble and hardworking man that would give anyone in need the shirt off his back. He was affectionately known as “grandpa” by all and left a mark on the hearts of all those who crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. Glenn is survived by four children; Calvin (Kathy) Walker of FL; Ron (Marge) Walker of WY; Rick Walker of PA; Jolene Walker of PA; three siblings; Marlin (Nancy) Walker of PA; Ben (Rhoda) Walker of PA; Kenny (BeLynn) Walker of PA; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in passing by two sons; Robert “Bob” Walker; John Walker; two sisters; Sylvia and Shirley; and one brother; Lawrence. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 25, 2021, from 1pm to 4pm at the Soldier Community Church, 762 Reynoldsville-Sykesville Rd., Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 26, 2021, also at the church, beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Pastor Kevin Brooks. Interment will take place at the Sykesville Memorial Cemetery, Sykesville, Jefferson Co., PA.
