George Lewis Holben

George Lewis Holben, 90, of Brockway, PA, passed away during the evening hours of Tuesday, January 10, 2023, while a resident at Highland View Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 25, 1932, to the late Merle Byers and Della Elmira (Wall) Holben in Butler County, PA. George attended school in the Chicora Area school district. He worked for SGL Carbon in St. Mary’s, PA, for over forty years. George married Delores Mae Holben on September 23, 1955, in Brookville, PA; Delores preceded him in passing. He was protestant by faith. George enjoyed music and appreciated a good sense of humor. He loved his family and had a fondness for the outdoors and enjoyed farming, gardening, and animals. Above all else, George was a strong believer in “living life to the fullest” and made this clear in every decision he made. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. George is survived by two sons; George L. Holben II; Michael B. Holben; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and five siblings. In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in passing by one daughter; Lorna Heitzenrater; and five siblings. Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 12pm to 1pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1:15pm and officiated by Pastor Sam Bundy.
