Gail L. Thacher

Gail L. Thacher, 81, of Sigel, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, while a patient at Penn Highlands Brookville in Brookville, PA. Gail was born on November 18, 1940, to the late Lieutenant Colonel Donald Edward and Sylvea (McMinn) Wendle in San Francisco, CA. She graduated from Ridgway Area High School with the Class of 1960 where she loved to play the clarinet in the marching band. Gail married William Harrison Thacher on May 1, 1966, in Ridgway, PA; William preceded her in passing on April 11, 2016. She worked at Stackpoles in Johnsonburg. Gail attended Grace Episcopal Church in Ridgway. Growing up with her father was in the Air Force, she traveled all over the country until she came back to the Halton area to raise her own family. One of Gail’s favorite past times was sitting on the front porch watching the horses and the hummingbirds. Gail is survived by one daughter; Sally (Curtis) Lelless of Sigel, PA; and two grandsons; William Mark Lelless of Lexington, KY and John Curtis Lelless of Sigel, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, Gail is preceded in passing by one daughter; Linda Kay Thacher; and one brother; Duane Wendle. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 10am – 12pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing beginning at 12pm and officiated by Pastor Dale Livermore. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Sigel Volunteer Fire Department, Station 14 Ward 2, 2329 State Rte. 3001, Sigel, PA 15860.
