Edward "Ed" Reighn Sr. Obituary

Edward “Ed” Amos Reighn Sr., 83, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away during the evening hours of Friday, June 25, 2021, while a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. He was born on May 27, 1938, to the late Amos Reighn and Catherine Welsh in Camden, NJ. He attended school in the Camden School District and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for three years. Ed married Jessie “Candy” Mae Kohlenberg on November 11, 1977, in Camden; Candy survives him. He worked in production as a forklift driver. Ed was a member of the Reynoldsville First United Methodist Church and the Reynoldsville Foundry. Ed was a radio enthusiast and enjoyed all radios, especially CB radios. He would also tinker with other things and had a habit of taking them apart and putting them back together, just to see how they worked. He shared this hobby with his son, who would work on cars with him. He loved fishing and was an avid bowler when he was younger. Ed was a collector of “things” frequently filling his pockets with collected trinkets and oddities. Ed loved a good time and to laugh with his loved ones. Ed loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by two children; Veronica (Brad) Young; Edward “Eddie” Amos (Jessica Fields) Reighn Jr.; five grandchildren; Amber (Mathew) Pontious; Marcus (Amanda) Young; Idez Young; Nikolas Young; Stephanie Patterson; two great grandchildren; Sophia Pontious; Micah Pontious; four siblings; Carol (Paul) Hellyar; Barbara (Robert) Lenox Jr.; Dianne (Henry) Rodriguez; Charles Reighn; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his birth parents, Ed was preceded in passing by his stepmother who raised him; Dorothy “Dot” Reighn; one son; William James Reighn; one sister; Marie Reighn; and two nieces; Dorothy Sword; and Theresa Rodriguez. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 11am to 1pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, also at the funeral home, beginning at 1pm and officiated by Reverend Thomas D. Carr.
