Dorothy Irene (McManigle) Sprankle

Dorothy Irene (McManigle) Sprankle, 98, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021, while a resident at Elderwood of Hamburg in Hamburg, NY. Dorothy was born on January 25, 1923, to the late Hudson and Mary (Vandervort) McManigle in Brookville, PA. She lived a full life in both Western New York and Brookville, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #983 and the Brookville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed touring the country with her friends on senior trips. Dorothy also enjoyed visiting with family in Pennsylvania, New York and California. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Lon Sprankle; sisters, Sarah Mays and Margaret Jakeway; brothers, Robert and William McManigle; son, Gerald Morris; and daughter-in-law, Rosie Sprankle. Dorothy is survived by her daughters; Ellen Jean (Gerald) Lingenfelter, Carol (John) Dimitroff; and Linda (Skip) Hodgson; son, Kenneth Sprankle; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 10am to 12pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A prayer will be offered at 11:30am. Dorothy will be interred at the Zion Cemetery, Mayport, Clarion Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
