Donald Robert Zellonis

Donald Robert Zellonis, age 67 of Knoxdale, PA passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.  Don was born to the late Joseph M. Zellonis and Nellie (Vandervort) Zellonis on August 5, 1954.  Don married Judy (Knapp) Zellonis on June 5, 1976. After 45 years of marriage, she survives him.

After graduation, Don began working as a mechanic at Dobson Garage in Dora, PA.  He continued as a mechanic at the TA Truck Stop, Miller Welding, and recently retired from Murray Freightliner. Don was a kind and quiet man who had a willingness to help others.  He also had a love for animals.  Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his favorite pastime was riding motorcycle.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by three children: Robert (Sally) Zellonis, Angela (Sam) Walter, and Eric Zellonis; six grandchildren: Thomas and Steven Zellonis, Trentyn and Owen Walter, Emma Siesky, and Easton Zellonis.  He is also survived by a brother: Daniel Matthew Zellonis; and four sisters: Mary Ella Toven, Julia Ann Uplinger, Elizabeth Klebacha, and Madalyn Rittenhouse; and several nieces and nephews. In-laws that survive him include Tammy (Jerry) Bullers, Terry (Sandy) Knapp, and Alton Knapp.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph James Zellonis and John Leroy Zellonis, his sister, Nellie May Richards, his nephew, Steven Lee Uplinger, his niece, Kayla Marie Bullers, and his brother in law, Jeffrey Alan Knapp.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 5 to 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place, also at the funeral home, on Thursday, January 6, 2022, beginning at 11am, and officiated by Pastor Glenn McQuown.
