Dennis "Denny" Michael Shaffer

Dennis “Denny” Michael Shaffer, 78, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away during the evening hours of Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney, PA. He was born on November 3, 1944, to the late William Lee and Mayme (Bliss) Shaffer in DuBois, PA. Denny graduated from Reynoldsville High School with the class of 1963. He married his beloved Doris McClure on May 11, 1968, in Reynoldsville; Doris preceded him in passing on August 12, 2018. Denny was a skilled chef and was owner of the Pizza Pub in Reynoldsville. Denny also worked as a chef for other establishments throughout his life, including, Thunderbird Restaurant, Litts Club, and the Clarion River Lodge. Denny loved to cook whether working or not, he loved to practice his craft. Denny always loved baseball and had a particular interest in the Brooklyn Dodgers. He also had a passion for trading baseball cards, leading to owning a sports card trading business called Bulldog Sports on Main Street, Reynoldsville. Denny also loved to make people laugh and had a specific enjoyment for “dad jokes”. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Denny is survived by daughter; Diana Kay Shaffer; son; Michael Ross Shaffer; daughter in law; Debra Joan Dinsmore; son; Michael Paul Kohn; brother; Darwin Shaffer; sister-in-law; Rita (Fernando) Turegano; and nieces and nephews; Danny, Diane, Natalie, Marlene, Joyce, Marco, Nikki, and their families. In addition to his parents and wife, Denny was preceded in passing by his brother, W. Byron Shaffer. Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A second viewing will take place on Saturday, December 31, also at the funeral home from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will take place immediately following the second viewing, beginning at 1pm and officiated by Pastor Sam Bundy. Interment will take place at McClure Cemetery, Curwensville, Clearfield Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek, PA 15840.
