Carl Wayne Mohney

Carl Wayne Mohney, 71, of Sigel, PA, passed away during the late evening hours of Saturday, March 6, 2021, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. He was born on July 27, 1949, to the late Ferman Leroy and Blanche Catherine (Yeaney) Mohney in Punxsutawney, PA. Carl graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1967. Carl married Deanna Rose (Best) Held on October 18, 1997, at the Zion United Methodist Church, they shared twenty-three years of marriage; Deanna survives him. He grew up on a dairy farm and worked it with his dad for thirteen years. When he and his family moved to Virginia, he worked on a large farm as a ranch hand helping around the property and working with the black angus cattle. Before they moved back home, he drove truck for BFI. When Carl returned to the area, he started work at Miller Welding where he worked as a maintenance man for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 2016. Carl had a strong faith in God and he and his wife were members of the Zion United Methodist Church and the church bowling league. Carl had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and all it had to offer, he loved to farm and hunt. He was known as a “teaser” and would tease anyone if the opportunity arose. He was a great man who loved people, especially his family, and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children; Thea (Pat) Richardson; Adam (Sara) Mohney; two stepsons; Daniel Held; David (Stephanie) Held; seven grandchildren; Hunter Richardson; Katherine Richardson; Lily Mohney; Autum Held; Brent Held; Alexander Held; Rosalie Held; four siblings; Glenn Mohney; Lloyd Mohney; Janet Otteni; Bonnie (Wayne DePope) Mohney; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by infant twin children; Robert and Judith Mohney. A private service will be broadcast on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 1pm and officiated by Pastor Dale Livermore. Interment will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Zion United Methodist Church, 1778 Route 36, Brookville, PA 15825.
