Ann "Nancy" Blochberger Obituary

Ann “Nancy” P. Blochberger, age 94, of Brookville PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, while a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA. She was born on March 11, 1927, to the late John Joseph Sr., and Catherine Cecilia (Rogan) Kelly in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Nancy graduated from Kingston High School in Wilkes-Barre PA, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Misericordia College in Dallas, PA. She worked for many years as a traveling nurse for the Red Cross in Bel Air MD, and across western MI. Nancy also worked for many years as an RN at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville PA, dedicated to taking care of others including her family and patients which would range from new mothers to senior residents; she retired in 1992. She volunteered for many organizations including the Welcome Wagon, Altar and Rosary Society, Cub Scout Den Mother, Band Boosters concession stand and more. As a supportive mother she sat through many band concerts, football games, and swim meets. She loved her Irish heritage and her extended Kelly clan. Nancy was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville PA, and she was devout in her Roman Catholic faith with a special connection to our Blessed Mother Mary. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to sing, especially to her children and grandchildren when they were young. Nancy was strong, patient, loyal, consistent, reliable, and she cared for her family’s wellbeing, making sure to cook healthy dinners for her family of eight for almost twenty years. She could, and would, talk on the phone for hours. Nancy is survived by five children; Timothy Blochberger, Thomas Blochberger, Terrance (Amy) Blochberger, Mary (Don) Smith, Michael (Melody) Blochberger; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by one son; Ted Blochberger; siblings Jack and Bernard Kelly, Mea Grady, Claire Castle, Frank and Robert Kelly; also, a brother Paul, who passed at the age of two. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 1, 2021, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to Christ the King Manor, 1100 W. Long Ave, DuBois, PA 15801.
